Dark has a place in fiction. But it’s ridiculous to take something and make it dark just because you think it will appeal to audiences. Dark is usually a way to kind of hit home the reality of just how bad it can get in situations. Not Fuck Batman.

This ain’t your little brother’s Teen Titans this is for TEENAGERS DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE

film critics:

Your enjoyment of a movie doesn’t in any way influence how good or bad it is. I loved the room, but I’d never try and tell you it’s a good movie. Likewise, some people liked tlj even though it has no redeeming qualities. They can like it even though it’s objectively awful. Personal enjoyment and how good a movie is are entirely different things.

This is something too many people don’t seem to understand. While entertainment factor completely depends on ones perception, whether or not it has a ‘good’ story is another thing entirely. There is definitely a standard for good story telling. You can’t call a movie good when it’s main characters don’t develop, the villain doesn’t have a real motive, it’s filled with plot holes, it’s inconsistent, etc. Maybe spend a couple of minutes hearing out ‘critics’ rather than assuming they’re all killjoys. Gain some perspective other than your own.
