Growing up, many children remember having to watch a television show called Barney & Friends. It taught the importance of sharing and caring. As children grew older, a phenomenon often occurred in which they would often grow to resent, or even hate the titular purple dinosaur. You couldn’t get on the school bus or the playground without hearing children sing songs about mutilating Barney. These were often to the tune of children’s songs that many would recognize at that age. The way the song would go varied wildly by location. For example, the main one sung at an elementary school in New York could have been about barbequing Barney’s head and flushing his body down the toilet, while on the other side of the country in California, they could have been singing about tying Barney to a tree and setting him on fire.
