“Gritty™️”is not a replacement for competent writing.

I hate when people say “you just don’t like DC stuff because it’s too dark and gritty“. No, I don’t like it because it’s ONLY focused on being dark and gritty and no one seems to give a shit about quality or storytelling. I think Infinity War proved that you can do dark and gritty and still have an entertaining story. If there is a purpose to the drama you put in your storyline, then it’s fine. If you just think “our product will be good because it has blood and swears!” you probably went wrong somewhere.
